Food Safety Advisor
Len worked with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) for over 30 years. Most of his time at the USDA he worked with the import and export programs in Detroit, MI and Washington, DC. This included supervising field inspection, developing policy, liaison with US CBP, and USDA APHIS. During his time at USDA he worked on the International Trade Data System (ITDS), Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) System, the Public Health Inspection System (PHIS), Automated Broker Interface Message Set and Targeting System.
Upon retiring he started consulting with IEA. His main work has been with import establishments, importers, exporters, and foreign countries. He handles most issues in the regulated protein area related to food specializing in imported and exported edible and inedible meat, poultry, and egg products. He has given training and presentations in
Argentina, Colombia, and Namibia.
